Duolouge

2 people stuck in an elevator

Melissa: (panicked, violently pressing lift buttons)

This can’t be happening I have to pick up my son!!

Crystal: (waving phone around trying to catch signal)

 wait I think I’m getting signal… SHHH!

Melissa: CALL 999!

Crystal: No, no no I have to call my fiancé! Terrence is a bank manager you know.

TERRY BABY IM STUCK! Wait, hello, babe? UGH! He cut out.

Crystal- sinks to the floor, sits down, removes high heels.

Melissa- So, how long have you two been together?

Crystal: 2 years in December.

Melissa: Awh, my son will be turning 2 this December.

Crystal: Aw how adorable, Me and Terry can’t wait to have kids, how long have you been with your man?

Melissa: (sits down too)

Actually, the father took off during the pregnancy, he didn’t even come to the hospital so see his new born son.

Crystal: Oh wow, I’m so sorry, you are so strong, I could never imagine how much of a struggle single parenting is.

Melissa: Its tough. I had no idea what I was getting into, we was all happy in our little bubble, High school sweethearts; madly in love. We had just moved into our first apartment, he had just got a new job at the bank, I was finishing my diploma… And then after I found out I was pregnant, He just disappeared, with no warning, I guess he wasn’t ready to be a parent... Well it is what it is. I don’t regret a thing, my son is the best thing in my life, I love him more than anything.

Crystal:  You are so brave, wow.  Have you got a photo?

Melissa: yeah, here (hands crystal the phone)

(Crystal analyses the phone)

Crystal: aww he’s so beautiful, he looks like my fiancé abit. Same eyes and button nose( little giggle)

Melissa: (pauses) do you have a phone of your fiancé?

Crystal : yeah of course, I’ve got loads of us. He’s tall, dark and handsome

Melissa: (underbreath) it’s tel, wait you’re marrying Terry?

Crystal: wait what? How do you know Terrance? (Pauses) it cant be? (Holds the phones together) I should have known, they’re a spitting image of eachother.

Hamiltons- Alan Burr (Gilles Terrero) Interview

Gilles Terrero interview

The stage was clear with a head high platform with two balloons floating on top, on the stage floor was a chair where Gilles sat and addressed the audience, asking them for questions. This experience was really exciting and educational for the first half hour, then it became way too repetitive because people just kept asking similar questions. If i was director of this event i would have made sure there was a wireless microphone that could be passed around the audiance for questions that way everyone can hear others questions, and to make it easier for Gilles as he struggled to hear the questions. The event ran for 2 hours, I payed full attention for the first half hour to be honest.

Gilles Terrero graduated from mount view drama school 20years ago. From a young age he was interested in all forms of performing arts. He is currently writing a  play for the Bristol old vic called The American Clock. The advice he gave to us as a young actors was 'Be honest with yourself about what your really want from life. always know your strengths and weaknesses and go from there.'

After the interview, I sat back and reflected.... From this experienced I learnt that life is rather long and September 2020 when I will finish my college education now seems very close. Gilles Terrero inspired me to question myself weather going to university or drama school is right for Me. There are a lot of options to weigh up, especially when after this course education will not be free for me.

Life options for the future-

shakespeare Mac Beth

MacBeth

My initial response to Macbeth was that this process is going to be lengthy, challenging and will require focus and patience. There are multiple themes that run throughout the play these include; ambition, fate, murder, greed and madness. Shakespeare's plays usually fit into these three categories; comedy, tragedy and romantic. In my opinion this play is a tragedy.
The way our tutor organised this is that the class was split into three casts and we will tour secondary schools and perform, i also heard through the grape vine talk of performing at chislehurt caves! Hopefully that will happen as the reverb of performing in a cave will make our voices amplified and echoed.
My characters are Lady MACDuff, ensemble and Witch 1.

Character research
Physical challenge of becoming a witch
Agree on a style as a group

To begin with getting to grips with the language we tried to translate the text in to modern language to help us understand the story line and objective in each scene. From my new understanding the play is about a Scottish Army man who receives a fortune telling from three witches who predict that he will be the king of Scotland.  Overcome by determination, greed and prompting from his wife; Macbeth kills King Duncan and claims the crown for himself. Mac beth and lady macbeth become consumed with guilt. The witches predict he can not be killed by anyone born by natural birth, Macduff was born by a c- section and kills Macbeth in revenge after Macbeth killed his wife and kids.

-rehersal progress
- working as a company (collabroration)/ working with the tech team
- what ideas have i added to or contributed
-personal journey
- acting skills to bring to the process (mental, physical, vocal development of my charecter)
- ideas for production music
- learn lines/ cues/ entrances and exits/ staging

Our group was called the blue group and we were the first to Perform. The first steps we took as a group to ensure a smooth rehearsal period is vote for our rehearsal captain. Majority of group voted for Danielle. I also agreed that Danielle should be our rehearsal captain/ director because she is sensible, organised and responsible. We created a social media group chat to keep us all informed about rehearsal times, and it was also a platform for discussing the show outside of college. I feel like  every member of our group (except one)  equally contributed ideas and work.
Our first rehearsal was just a read through of the script as a group, everyone read the lines they had been cast. This was a good way to get to grips with the language before we worried about the physical stuff.
For the next few rehearsals after this we focused on the blocking of the scene, making sure everybody knew where and when to exit and and enter. At this point we hadn't really decided on a theme or style for our show, we where just beginning to understand the plot and the subtext beneath each line. During rehearsals we found it hard to stay focused sometimes as we were unsupervised for majority of the rehearsal progress. However Danielle would usually remind us of the importance of using the time wisely. My group and I spend a good couple hours putting thought towards the production of our show. When it came to costume and music; everybody contributed. I really enjoyed working with my team simply because it was a democracy, everybodies voice is was listened too, and no ones idea was completely scrapped. Our group did very well at compromising and adapting. This project was especially difficult as our beloved tutor had fallen unwell and had to take some time on leave. However our team adapted to the changes in the college environment very well.
